GN F-8 #1227
The 115 units of the F-8 class, numbers 1150-1264 were the largest subclass of consolidations. They were built in five lots by several builders between 1901-1908 and had the GN standard 55" drivers, 210 pounds boiler pressure and 41,540 pounds tractive effort. They served as the work horse for local freight work across the vast GN system. Many served till the end of steam, and one, the 1147, handled the last steam powered train on the Oroville-Wenatchee branch and is in display at Wenatchee, Wn. Another, the 1246, was on display in a Seattle park for a number of years until a moron mayor gave it way in the name of 'park improvement'.
This PFM/Tenshodo model has a factory paint job that has been modified with a black cab roof. This relatively late model has lots of nice detail and the headlight drilled. Like all Tenshodo models, she is smooth runner and fine puller. In 2009 it received a new can motor, and NWSL 36:1 idler gear box but the drive is still a bit noisy and has had some running. Tender light works but the head light is disconnected.
Original box and foam.
